Tottenham Hotspur’s Radu Dragusin to Undergo Surgery After ACL Injury

Tottenham Hotspur’s 2024-25 season is quickly falling apart as the English giants have now lost another key player to injury in the form of Radu Dragusin. Despite leading Liverpool in the semi-final stage of the EFL Cup, Spurs currently find themselves in a lowly 14th position in the Premier League table.

While much of Tottenham’s on-pitch form has much to do with their struggles, consistent fitness issues with pivotal players like Dragusin have not helped the North London outfit’s cause at all. With the Romanian center-back now set to undergo surgery to treat his ACL injury, fans have wondered what actually happened to Radu Dragusin.

Here’s everything you need to know regarding the 23-year-old defender’s latest ailment.

How did Radu Dragusin get injured?

Radu Dragusin suffered an ACL injury in his knee in Tottenham’s recent Europa League win against Elfsborg.

In the said match, the ex-Genoa man, who came on the pitch as a half-time substitute, took a knock to his knee after inadvertently clashing with forward Jalal Abdullai. The altercation resulted in Dragusin sustaining an injury, which forced Spurs boss Ange Postecoglu to take the defender off the field in favor of 20-year-old forward Dane Scarlett. The change ended up working for the English outfit as Scarlett opened the scoring for Tottenham shortly after his introduction.

With Radu Dragusin now judged to have suffered an ACL injury, the up-and-coming center-back will most likely spend an extended amount of time on the treatment table. Therefore, Dragusin now joins fellow Spurs defenders Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie on the injury list. Additionally, Tottenham are also missing first-choice keeper Guglielmo Vicario, Dominic Solanke, Brennan Johnson, and James Maddison due to fitness troubles.

The injury-riddled Tottenham Hotspur will now face Liverpool away in the second leg of the EFL Cup semi-finals as they look to end their barren run with silverware.
