Collin Sexton Leaves Jazz vs. Pacers Match Due to Sprained Ankle

The Utah Jazz continue to sustain one setback after the other, with the latest mishap occurring in their narrow-margin defeat to the Indiana Pacers. The injury-riddled Jazz lost another player on Monday night after Collin Sexton exited the court in the middle of the game due to an ankle sprain. Sexton’s early departure has raised concerns among Utah fans, who are eager to learn about the state of their team’s talisman. So, what actually happened to the seasoned point guard?

Here are all the available details regarding Sexton’s latest ailment.

What happened to Collin Sexton?

Collin Sexton reportedly sprained his ankle in the Jazz’s 111-112 loss vs the Pacers, forcing him to leave the pitch prematurely with an injury.

The unfortunate incident occurred in the first quarter itself, with just 9:47 remaining on the clock. Three minutes into the game, Sexton attempted to get to the opposition’s basket despite two Indiana players constantly covering his strides. However, Collin Sexton ended up rolling his ankle awkwardly in the build-up, resulting in an injury. Unable to continue, the 26-year-old athlete proceeded to retreat to the locker room, with sophomore guard Keyonte George taking his place on the court.

The Utah Jazz soon confirmed that Collin Sexton will be sitting out of the remaining game due to his ankle injury. Prior to his exit, the point guard managed to notch two points off three attempts while also securing a rebound.

At the time of writing, it remains unknown as to how long would Collin Sexton’s injury keep him on the sidelines. While a minor strain should only result in an absence of 3-7 days, Sexton could miss up to two months of game time if his sprain is diagnosed to be of the severe category.

With the Utah Jazz firmly stationed at the bottom of the Western Conference, Sexton’s absence will definitely hurt their chances of extracting results in the upcoming games. Will Hardy’s men will now face the Golden State Warriors in their next NBA fixture.
