Trudy is upset with Mouch for forgetting her birthday. He assumed she was unhappy with him because he was celebrating his promotion with future lieutenants, unaware of the true reason for her anger. Later, he discovers that she wants to celebrate her birthday with him, but his previous actions have already hurt her.
Things get much worse when Trudy is tasked with investigating the fire, in addition to her duties of supervising the patrol officers. With the help of some evidence, she, Bates, and Adam learn the fire was arson and are determined to nab the culprits. Meanwhile, Mouch feels guilty over his actions and is desperate to see her amidst the risky experiment. However, those around him try to console him, saying Trudy’s condition is improving. Luckily, Trudy survives and also shares with Voight details about the person who shot her.
