Sam Asghari comments on Britney Spears’ conservatorship
Actor-model Sam Asghari opened up about his time with Spears during his recent appearance on Kate and Oliver Hudson’s Sibling Rivalry podcast. He recalled how shocked he was when he got to know about Britney Spears’ conservatorship. “One day I start learning about what the conservatorship is, and that’s when I was like, ‘Wait a minute. I thought I’m in America. What do you mean someone over the age of 18 needs permission from their parents,'” Asghari stated.
The 30-year-old celebrity summarized the experience by noting, “That was the most difficult and weird spiral thing that I’ve witnessed in my life.” Despite his reservations regarding Britney Spears’ conservatorship, Asghari made sure to support her during such tough times. “I think the best thing to do is to provide support in that moment and that’s what I did, I provided as much as I could,” he remarked. Following a string of controversies, Britney Spears was put under court-mandated conservatorship in 2008, with her father, Jamie Spears, leading the charge. According to the Grammy winner, she had to battle several issues due to her unusual situation. Spears narrated that she wanted to start a family with Asghari at one point but couldn’t as the conservatorship prohibited her from removing her IUD.
Despite filing for divorce from the pop icon in 2023, Sam Asghari seems to have no regrets about his prolonged relationship with Spears. “I’m always gonna be grateful and happy that it ever even happened,” he stated in the interview.
