After earning over $1 billion at the box office, Moana 2 is now available for digital streaming. The film debuted on January 28, 2025, available for purchase at $29.99 and rental at $24.99 on platforms like Apple TV, Prime Video, and other premium video-on-demand (PVOD) services. Viewers can instantly buy or rent it on supported devices.
Disney has not yet announced the Disney+ release date. However, based on past Disney animated films, it will likely arrive on the platform about three months after its theatrical debut, around late February or early March 2025. Until then, digital purchase or rental remains the only way to watch the sequel at home.
Moana 2 continues Moana’s journey three years after the events of the first film. Voiced by Auli’i Cravalho, she ventures beyond Oceania alongside her younger sister Simea (Khaleesi Lambert-Tsuda) and the demigod Maui (Dwayne Johnson). The sequel features new music composed by Abigail Barlow, Emily Bear, Opetaia Foa’i, and Mark Mancina.
The first Moana (2016) is currently available on Disney+, where Moana 2 will eventually be added. A Disney+ subscription is required to stream Moana 2 once it arrives. Plans start at $9.99/month for the ad-supported tier, $15.99/month for ad-free, and $10.99/month for the Disney+/Hulu/ESPN+ bundle.
Verizon customers with eligible unlimited plans can access Disney+ for free, and an annual Premium plan ($159.99/year) offers a discount over monthly billing. Disney+ no longer provides a free trial.
