Actress Naomi Watts recently published her memoir Dare I Say It: Everything I Wish I’d Known About Menopause, in which she candidly discusses the changes in her life. During her appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, she spoke about the book and her first sexual experience with husband Billy Crudup, which she claims was “embarrassing.”
Naomi Watts describes embarrassing moment with Billy Crudup
Naomi Watts appeared on the January 27 episode of The Drew Barrymore Show and discussed how she was dealing with the changes brought about by menopause. She recalled her sexual experience with her eventual husband, Billy Crudup.
“I’m not going to embarrass him and talk about it in depth on live TV, but I was mortified because I had my patch on,” Watts said. “If anyone’s ever worn a patch, you know that they’re very sticky, the adhesive takes ages to get off.”
Watts was speaking about the transdermal skin patches used for certain symptoms of menopause. “I excused myself [during the moments of intimacy with Crudup), ran off to the bathroom and panicked, like, ‘What am I gonna do?,'” the I Heart Huckabees actress later added. “And I’m scratching away…”
Watts mentioned that she might have had “a couple of them on both sides,” adding that as she was taking too long, Crudup found her and asked, “‘Are you okay, are you not in the mood?’”
During the interview, Watts acted out her subsequent response. She explained to Krudup that she was in menopause and was undergoing treatment. She told Crudup, “I have this patch and I’m wearing it and it leaves this… I’m old, should I just leave?”
The King Kong star said Crudup reminded her that they were of the same age and asked her how he could help. The pair have been married since June 2023. They initially began their relationship in 2017 after working together on the Netflix drama series Gypsy.
Previously, Watts was in relationships with Heath Ledger and Liev Schreiber and has two children with the latter. Crudup dated Mary-Louise Parker and Claire Danes. He and Parker have a daughter together.
