Jason Kelce Sparks Travis Kelce’s NFL Retirement Rumors

The 2024-25 NFL season is one step away from witnessing history as the Kansas City Chiefs have officially qualified for the Super Bowl for the fifth time in six years. With the Chiefs vying to etch their name in the record books by becoming the first team ever to complete a Super Bowl three-peat, the NFL world has started to contemplate if it would be the right time for tight end Travis Kelce to embrace retirement. Such speculations picked up further fuel after Jason Kelce recently hinted that his brother might not have many playing years left in him.

Here’s everything you need to know regarding the LII Super Bowl champion’s comments about Travis Kelce’s retirement.

What did Jason Kelce say about Travis Kelce’s NFL retirement?

Prior to the Chiefs’ NFL Conference Championship tie with the Buffalo Bills, Jason Kelce made an appearance on ESPN’s They Call it Late Night and shared his two cents on the Super Bowl fixture. While discussing choosing between his brother’s side and the Philadelphia Eagles, the team he represented for 13 seasons, Kelce stated, “I’m kinda torn. I wanna be there for the Eagles, I also wanna be there for my brother, I don’t know how many more he has.”

He then continued, “So we’re kind of flying by the seat of our pants. We might be able to see both of us here again hopefully.” Jason’s comments seem to have reinvigorated the talks around Travis Kelce’s retirement, who will be turning 36 later this year.

Even his longtime teammate, Patrick Mahomes, has “no idea” about the eventuality. “He hasn’t said anything to me if he’s thinking that,” the veteran quarterback stated while talking about Travis Kelce’s retirement. Nevertheless, he did express his eagerness to win against the Bills, noting, “If it’s his last game, let’s go out there and get him a win. If it’s not his last game, let’s go out and win anyways, huh?” (via Marca)

The Chiefs won the game 32-29 and successfully qualified for the Super Bowl for the third year running. Andy Reid’s men will now face the Philadelphia Eagles in the biggest NFL clash of the year, which should feature Travis Kelce, barring any last-minute hiccups.
