Taylor Swift is only just one actress among a handful of actresses who have been rumored to be in consideration for the role of Rapunzel. Black Widow star Florence Pugh is another name that is reportedly being considered for the role, according to another reputable albeit semi-reliable industry insider Daniel Richtman. Moreover, Richtman also claimed that Kathryn Hahn was being eyed for Mother Gothel.
Furthermore, Sabrina Carpenter is another name that has been seemingly thrown into the mix. This casting idea comes from none other than Mandy Moore herself, the actress behind Rapunzel in 2010’s Tangled. Moore expressed in an interview with Elite Daily in 2024, that she would pick Carpenter for the role, if she was in charge of casting. “I could see her with 50 feet of hair or something,” Moore added. “She looks like a Disney princess in real life.”
The official cast of the live-action Rapunzel film is currently unknown. However, a Deadline report from December 2024 revealed that The Greatest Showman’s Michael Gracey was in talks to direct the film from a script penned by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson.
