A&E Networks has announced that Duck Dynasty: The Revival is in development. The network has greenlit two seasons of the show, each comprising a total of 20 episodes. However, recent reports claim Phil Robertson, the patriarch of the titular family, will not be in the Duck Dynasty reboot, and the fans of the show want to know why.

Why is Phil Robertson not returning for the Duck Dynasty reboot?
Duck Dynasty originally aired on A&E for 11 seasons between 2012 and 2017. It revolves around Phil Robertson and several other members of his family who run the successful hunting and outdoor company Duck Commander in West Monroe, Louisiana.
Meanwhile, Duck Dynasty: The Revival will concentrate on Phil’s son Willie, the latter’s wife Korie, and their children and grandchildren. Other cast members from the original series, including Si Robertson and Miss Kay, will also appear in the reboot, but Phil won’t.
In December 2013, A&E disclosed that they had placed Phil on indefinite suspension. This was after he made disparaging comments about same-sex relationships and Black people. However, following a backlash from some sections of the fans, the network lifted the suspension without impacting any of the episodes. (via The Hollywood Reporter)
Hence, Phil Robertson’s absence from the reboot doesn’t seem to be related to that. Instead, the probable cause for it appears to be his recent Alzheimer’s disease diagnosis. Moreover, Phil’s name is not on the list of cast members that A&E announced will be involved in the revival.
When will Duck Dynasty: The Revival premiere?
The exact date of the premiere of Duck Dynasty: The Revival is not yet known. Albeit, A&E announced that the series would debut on the platform sometime in the summer of 2025.
The logline for Duck Dynasty: The Revival reads, “With their dynasty expanding into more than just ducks, Willie and Korie will bring their signature humor and family fun as they grapple with mapping out the future of Duck Commander, watching the kids navigate marriage, children, and businesses of their own, and passing down the family legacy.” (via A&E)
