Love Island UK alums Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury’s break up, which had occurred last year, recently garnered public interest again following the recent release of Molly-Mae: Behind It All. This documentary focuses on Molly’s life after the split, her struggles with motherhood, and her attempts to launch the clothing brand Maebe. Molly-Mae and Tommy Fury had attributed alcohol as a major reason for their breakup.
Tommy Fury mentioned his alcohol problem in a Men’s Health interview. “I couldn’t be the partner that I wanted to be anymore. It kills me to say it, but I couldn’t,” he said. “I loved a pint of beer, loved to drink.” Here, he also vehemently denied all the cheating allegations and rumors that had surfaced around the time of his breakup with Molly and its aftermath.
Molly-Mae concurred Fury’s sentiments but had a slightly different perspective on the matter. In Behind It All, Molly Mae revealed that alcohol had been a key factor in the dissolution of their relationship. Here, she also revealed how she never wanted to be partners with an alcoholic and recounted how her mother struggled with alcoholism following her divorce from her father.
The Maebe founder further added that she was devastated when Tommy ended up drinking at her sister Zoe’s wedding. She mentioned how she begged him to give up his alcoholism.
Moreover, unlike Tommy, she did not seem to deny the cheating allegations. However, she was vague about it. “Over the past year or so I have become so much more aware of the things that have been going on that I was naive to for so long. I still don’t think I know the full picture,” she said. “I think there’s a lot I don’t know.” (via Grazia) Furthermore, Molly-Mae also denied the rumors of her and Fury’s breakup being a publicity stunt.
The former couple had announced their split via Instagram stories in August, last year. However, at the time they did not reveal the reasons for their breakup.
