In a recent Instagram post, Nina Dobrev opened up about her feelings about the LA fire.

“It’s been such a tragic time in Los Angeles, recently,” she said in the post. “I have been absolutely sick to my stomach with all the destruction and devastation that these fires have caused and displaced so many families.” Dobrev further mentioned that she had evacuated her home on her birthday on January 9 and that she had been feeling “survivor’s guilt.” She noted that her home, “which was close to one of the fires,” made it through all the carnage and destruction. Celebrities who lost their homes in the LA wildfires include Milo Ventimiglia, Billy Crystal, and Paris Hilton.

“The devastation in LA is immeasurable and heartbreaking. This is my plea to help,” the Vampire Diaries star captioned the post. “For my birthday, my only wish this year is that you help a family in need.”

Moreover, through the post, Dobrev thanked fans for their birthday wishes and encouraged them to donate money to families affected and displaced by the fires, regardless of the amount. She mentioned that she had donated to the families on the Google Sheets doc, which she showed a video of in her post and has provided a link to in her bio. Here, she also highlighted a dedicated donation section for Black and other marginalized communities from the Altadena area.

In the concluding paragraph of her caption, Dobrev wrote, “The road to rebuilding and healing for so many families who have lost everything starts now, and it will be a long one…”
