Is KB a cyborg in Star Wars: Skeleton Crew?

Yes, KB is a hybrid of human and droid in Star Wars: Skeleton Crew.

Although the series has yet to touch upon KB’s cybernetics origins properly, the latest episode does give specifics about her struggles as a human-droid hybrid. The series showcases her grappling with her cybernetic prosthetics, which abruptly malfunction because of the harsh conditions of Lanupa’s environment.

After the malfunction, she takes aid from Wim and instructs him in the repairing process. She requests him to rescue the remaining droid parts and perform the fixes on her. As Wim begins to treat her, she opens up about her struggles. She reveals how Fern remains unaware of what she endures within. However, she never really breaks the silence in front of him as she doesn’t want to lose a friend. Nonetheless, Wim gives her hope of remaining strong by reassuring her that she is not alone and that he is beside her.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Kratter addressed the origins of KB. She revealed that though the series never gave full-fledged details about her accident that gave her new identity, she made up her own back story, making it easier for her to perform.

Describing her character, Kratter said, “Part of her brain is a machine, and that’s helpful in some ways. She’s really good at analyzing things and recording things, but it makes it a little bit harder to make friends.”

The concluding episode of Skeleton Crew Season 1 came out on January 14, 2025.
