She reveals that the only thing she has left of her mother is the gold locket, which has her mother’s name engraved on it at the backside.

When the locket is viewed, Claire learns that Fanny’s mother might be Faith. However, she has some suspicions about the name, which solidify upon Fanny singing the lullaby. Claire recalls the time she sang the same lullaby for her newborn child. She soon realizes that Faith must be alive.

Emotional, she turns to Jamie and attempts to make him learn that their daughter might not be dead. She says, “I think Faith lived. I think our daughter lived.” However, the story is on a cliffhanger as the screen turns black, making many curious about what happens next. This ending teases that Faith might have survived the tragic situation somehow and could have lived. She grew up and gave birth to Jane and Fanny.
