Marvel Rivals’ Framerate Lag & How to Fix It? Bug Explained

Marvel Rivals players have recently been noticing a framerate lag or bug that has been hampering their experience. Although developer NetEase Games has released multiple patches since the game’s launch to fix various underlying issues, the problem of framerate lag still seems to persist. Accordingly, players have been wondering how they can fix the framerate lag or bug in the game.

Wondering why Marvel Rivals has a framerate lag and how can it be fixed? Find out here.

Why does Marvel Rivals lag so often?

An official reason for Marvel Rivals’ lag is unknown. However, it is believed by many to be a result of an unstable connection, caused by increased frame rates, leading servers of the online multiplayer hero-shooter to push more data through the user.

This issue was first reported by X user @Remy_OW, who shared screenshots of the game at different FPS’. He revealed that the framerate bug was causing Ping or Packet Internet to increase depending on the framerate setting.

On a related note, there was a recent framerate bug on 30fps that reduced the damage dealt by five heroes, Doctor Strange, Magik, Wolverine, Venom, and Star-Lord. It also hampered their movement. This issue appears to have been addressed in the January 10 update.

How to fix Marvel Rivals’ framerate bug lag?

A complete framerate bug fix for Marvel Rivals has not yet been rolled out. However, players can do the following to reduce the lag and improve their experience for the time being:

  • Reduce Marvel Rivals’ framerates per second to 30fps to avoid lag spikes.
  • Reduce the graphic settings of the game.
  • Use a wired connection instead of Wi-Fi.
  • Ensure that multiple devices are not connected to the internet at the same time when playing the game. This would not only reduce strain on the connection but also significantly improve the experience.

Marvel Rivals is currently available on PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S.
