With the release of Castlevania: Nocturne Season 2, fans of the Netflix series are wondering if it has been renewed for Season 3 or canceled. This animated series is a sequel to Castlevania and is set against the backdrop of the French Revolution. The main story follows Richter Belmont, who follows family tradition and takes up their line of work, vampire hunting. He is the direct descendant of Trevor Belmont, one of the main protagonists of Castlevania.
So, will Castlevania: Nocturne return for a third season or not? Here is your answer.
Is Castlevania: Nocturne Season 3 renewed by Netflix or canceled?
Netflix has neither renewed Castlevania: Nocturne for Season 3 nor canceled it, as of this writing.
However, the show’s co-director had offered fans an update on Season 3 several months prior, in October 2024. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Samuel Deats mentioned that he and the crew had gone on a work hiatus until Season 2’s release. He added that they would be waiting for news on a renewal.
Deats hinted that Season 3’s chances are all hinged on Season 2’s viewership performance and ratings. As such, if fans want a third installment of the show to happen, they would need to watch the second season, support it, and help the viewership metrics rise to the top.
In Castlevania: Nocturne Season 2, Richter and his team of vampire hunters, now also including Alucard, go on a quest to defeat Erzsebet Bathory. Despite her invincibility, she seeks out the goddess Sekhmet’s powers to bring darkness and destruction to the world.
Clive Bradley, best known for his work on Trapped and Crossing Lines, is the animated show’s creator. Meanwhile, Edward Bluemel, Thuso Mbedu, Pixie Davis, Sydney James Harcourt, Nastassja Kinski, James Callis, Zahn McClarnon, Richard Dormer, and Aaron Neil, make up the principal cast. Supporting cast members comprise Elarica Johnson, Franka Potente, and Jonathan Roumie, among others.
