Ever since Activision confirmed the return of the fan-favorite map Verdansk in Call of Duty: Warzone during COD NEXT 2024 and gave it a Spring 2025 release timeframe, fans have been eagerly wondering when exactly it will return. According to a scooper, fans may know when they can expect Verdansk to make its long-awaited comeback. Verdansk was the original map of Warzone for the unversed until December 2021. It was then removed and replaced by Caldera.
Here is what we have learned.
Verdansk expected to return to Warzone in Season 3
Verdansk is reportedly expected to return to Call of Duty: Warzone in Season 3.
This information comes from leaker TheGhostofHope, who shared this info in a reply to a tweet on X. The leaker also shared another tweet that claimed Fringe, an iconic map from Black Ops III, would also be integrated.
However, since this information does not come from Activision, fans must take it with a grain of salt.
Activision has also not confirmed the release date of Season 3. As such, it is unknown when exactly Season 3 will drop. However, based on various online reports and rumors, Season 2 drops on January 28. Going by the pattern of seasons spanning just two months, Season 3 and Verdansk could launch sometime between March and April. This aligns with the release timeframe of Spring mentioned at COD NEXT 2024 since March and April fall in the Spring season.
There were rumors of Verdansk’s 2025 return last year when Insider Gaming reported on it and corroborated the information first shared by now-suspended X account BobNetworkUK.
In the Call of Duty franchise, Verdansk is the capital city of Kastovia. It is a major setting in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, where Ground Ops and special operations occur. It has also served as a setting for several campaign missions in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, like Deep Cover, Flashpoint, Gora Dam, and Operation 627.
