Twitter Users Are Confused by ‘Load in 4K’ X Image Posts

Images with “Load in 4K” in the caption have been seen on X (formerly Twitter) for the last few days, and many users want to know the explanation behind them. Since last week, users have been posting updates in which they encourage other X users to view images in 4K resolution. It has spread widely and “load in 4K” has since become a meme.

‘Load in 4K’ meme on Twitter explained

Users are sharing images on X with “Load in 4K” in the caption, urging others to open the images in the Ultra High Definition (UHD) resolution. It has gained traction in the last few days, becoming a meme.

As these posts started to pile up on the platform, many erroneously concluded that this might be a new feature on X. However, that is not the case. It reportedly dates back to 2021, when X was still known as Twitter and was under a different administration. The company began introducing a feature that lets people logged into the platform on cell phones to view certain images in high resolution by tapping and holding them. The said feature became public a year later.

“Time to Tweet those high res pics –– the option to upload and view 4K images on Android and iOS is now available for everyone,” the official announcement from the platform said at the time. “To start uploading and viewing images in 4K, update your high-quality image preferences in ‘Data usage’ settings.”

It appears that many of the X users have found out about this feature recently, leading to the influx of posts. “Why is everyone suddenly telling me to load images in 4K,” a person with the username @Mrwhosetheboss asked on X.

Another user, @sweetmomissa posted, “Imagine hating me and I’m just over here trying to figure out what the hell ‘tap, hold and load in 4K’ means.”

The trend has become very popular on X, with the official handles of businesses, organizations, and sports teams taking part in it.
