Fans are eager to learn when Supernatural is leaving Netflix. They also want to know why all seasons of the popular drama mystery, sci-fi, and horror series could be potentially leaving the platform.
Here are all your questions answered.
Is Supernatural leaving Netflix in 2025?
Supernatural could be leaving Netflix on December 18, 2025.
Other shows reported to leave Netflix on this date are Arrow and The 100. These shows aired their finales in 2020, the same year Supernatural aired its finale.
However, Netflix will have some The CW shows occupying the library all the way to 2028. These include The Flash and Riverdale, which aired their finales in 2023.
Why could all Supernatural seasons be leaving Netflix?
The reason all Supernatural seasons could be leaving Netflix is because of a licensing terms stipulation in the deal between the platform and Supernatural’s home network, The CW. This stipulation stated that all seasons of the series would remain on the platform for five years following the airing of the series finale. The CW and Netflix did not renew their licensing agreement deal, which expired five years ago in 2019.
Supernatural’s series finale aired in November 2020; five years will pass in November 2025. Thus, because the deal between The CW and Netflix was not renewed, the series’ time on the OTT platform will end by then.
This was the case with Jane the Virgin. The show aired its series finale in 2019 and left the platform in 2024.
All 15 seasons of Supernatural are available on the platform as of this writing.
Eric Kripke, who went on to helm shows like The Boys and Gen V, created the series. Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles headline the cast as brothers Sam and Dean Winchester. Supporting cast members include Misha Collins, Mark Sheppard, Jim Beaver, Ruth Connell, Alexander Calvert, Samantha Smith, and Mark Pellegrino.
