The statement announcing celebrated photographer Oliviero Toscani’s death was released by his wife.
According to a report by BBC, Kirsti Toscani made a post on her husband’s Instagram page, @olivierotoscanistudio. She shared an image of the veteran Benetton photographer and revealed that he took his last breath on January 13, 2025.
The English translation of Kirsti’s statement in the caption reads, “It is with great sorrow that we give the news that today, January 13, 2025, our beloved Oliviero has embarked on his next journey.” She also addressed Oliviero Toscani’s fans while concluding the statement regarding his death. Kirsti said, “We kindly ask for confidentiality and understanding for this moment that we would like to face in the privacy of the family.”
Furthermore, Kirsti Toscani stated that the letter was from her, and Oliviero’s three kids, Rocco, Lola, and Ali. After the post reached his fans, many headed to the comments section to pay their respects to the photographer.
As per BBC’s report, Oliviero Toscani was not doing well before his death on Monday. The photographer lost consciousness and was immediately taken to the hospital near his residence in Tuscan country. He was suffering from amyloidosis which affects the working of significant organs and nerves in the body.
The diagnosis was made public by the photographer in an interview with the Corriere della Sera newspaper in August 2024. Oliviero had stated that the condition was rare and incurable and led him to lose 40 kilograms in one year. He added, “I don’t know how long I have left to live, but I’m not interested in living like this anyway.”
