Ryan Dorsey is making fans emotional on Naya Rivera’s birthday with a sentimental message. The Ray Donovan star wrote on Instagram, “Happy Heavenly Birthday. 5 birthdays since you’ve been gone. Thoughts everyday about how it went wrong. The memories attached to places, Still see all the things, see all our faces.”
The touching message further reads, “Visions of happiness and sadness, 15 years flash by when I hear a certain song. I shake my head often still in disbelief. They say time heals all, but all is not grief.” Dorsey continued, “Doing the best I can for our JoJo Binx, as the time goes by, Im often alone and sit and think. I think more of our better times, like this picture from the past, but it still f***ing stings.”
Dorsey and Rivera tied the knot in July 2014, surprising many. The award-winning star had broken up her engagement with rapper Big Sean in April 2014. Later, Rivera explained her sudden marriage and what really happened in the memoir Sorry Not Sorry. “Sean and I were supposed to get married in Santa Barbara, not Mexico, and Ryan and I didn’t get married on the same date — we got married on Ryan’s birthday.” She further wrote, “I bought a Carolina Herrera dress for my wedding with Sean and wore Monique Lhuillier when I married Ryan” (In Touch Weekly).
Rivera’s relationship with Dorsey went through quite a few ups and downs. A year after the couple’s marriage and the birth of their first child, marital problems reportedly started to rise. In November 2016, Rivera even filed for divorce from The Vampire Diaries star but called off the separation days later.
However, more troubles soon started to come in the way of the celebrity couple. In November 2017, Rivera faced an arrest and accusations of domestic battery. The couple finally called it quits in 2018.
Rivera’s tragic death two years after the divorce shook the internet. The actress went missing after a trip to Lake Piru with her son, and days later, her body was found. According to officials, the “Sorry” singer died of accidental drowning (via BBC).
