Tesla has recently launched a new version of its Model Y car, which has the unofficial but popular codename “Juniper” in China. Recently, several images of the new Model Y vehicle leaked online. Accordingly, many people have become curious about the new Model Y Juniper vehicle and wish to learn its specs and functionalities.

New Tesla Model Y Juniper detailed
The Tesla Model Y, aka Juniper, is expected to begin deliveries in China in March and in Australia in May. It is currently unknown when the new model will make its way to the United States or Europe.
The new Model Y is part of Tesla’s Launch series and comes in two variants, the Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD), and Long Range All Wheel-Drive (AWD).
In China, as per Tesla’s official website, the RWD version costs 263,500 yuan, and the Long Range All Wheel Drive costs 303,500 yuan. Meanwhile, in Australia, the RWD version costs $63,400, and the Long Range All Wheel Drive version costs $73,400.
The model comes with major changes to the exterior design, these include:
- Extremely thin headlights connected with a light strip in front of the car’s hood
- The front bumper of the model now has new air vents
- The car’s backlight is now one long red light bar.
The interiors have the following features:
- The interior of the car has wrap-around interior lighting and soft-touch finishes. The seats are ventilated and the car is equipped with a 15.4-inch touchscreen.
- The second-row seats are power-reclined and can fold flat. They also have an 8-inch touchscreen and Bluetooth.
The new Model Y also has improved connectivity, allowing for more Phone Key range, clearer calls, and faster cellular and Wi-Fi networks.
Chinese buyers have the option of choosing between wheel types for the Model Y. They can choose between the “Interactive Storm” wheels, which are black 19-inch wheels, or the “Spiral Storm” Wheels, which are silver 20-inch wheels. Unfortunately for Australian buyers, they only have access to one wheel type, the 20-inch “Helix 2.0.”
Both Chinese and Australian buyers can choose between five colors when ordering the vehicle. In Australia, the color names are:
- Pearl White Multi-Coat
- Glacier Blue
- Stealth Grey
- Quicksilver
- Ultra Red
The New Model Y Juniper has a range of 466km and a top speed of 201km/hr, as per WLTP standards.
