Hulu’s new TV and movie releases for January 13-19, 2025 include the films A Real Pain and My Penguin Friend.
My Penguin Friend drops on Hulu on January 14. Directed by David Schurmann, the story follows the meeting between a penguin, rescued from an oil spill, and a heartbroken fisherman. The penguin and fisherman soon form a friendship that brings a positive aura to the latter’s life.
The Jesse Eisenberg-directed film, A Real Pain, will be available on Hulu starting January 16. Starring Eisenberg and Kieran Culkin as cousins, the story follows their reunion for a tour in Poland to honor their grandmother. However, underlying tensions and their contrasting personalities threaten to complicate the journey.
Also dropping this week on Hulu is Toilet Bound Hanako-kun Season 2. This anime series is based on the manga of the same name, written and illustrated by Iro and Aida, respectively. The story follows Nene Yashiro, a high school freshman and occultist who summons Hanako-san of the Toilet and gets him to grant her romantic wishes while also helping him destroy supernatural beings. The duo also work together to change rumors and balance the spirit and human worlds.
