Since last year, Drake and Kendrick Lamar have been involved in a rap beef that has now extended to NBA star LeBron James. Some reports suggest that The “God’s Plan” rapper is criticizing people he regarded as close friends for changing sides. One of them appears to be James, whom Drake is purportedly aiming at with his diss track.
Here are all the details we’ve gathered on James and Drake’s possible feud.
Drake and LeBron James drama explained
The reports about Drake and James alleged drama emerged when the former dropped a diss track called “Fighting Irish.” Many believe the rapper is taking a shot at the basketball legend as his song title refers to his high school’s mascot. This led to fans believing that tension had been brewing between the two. Nonetheless, both parties have yet to give a word on these reports.
However, new details have surfaced about their alleged conflict on the latest episode of the New Rory & Mal podcast. The hosts potentially speculated what could have transpired between Drake and James. Rory shared that MAL previously revealed that James grooved to Lamar’s song “man at the garden” at his birthday party. This might have been in the light of his friend, Drake, reportedly unfollowing him on social media.
Additionally, Rory suggested that the track is “months old.” Hence, it might not just be to criticize LeBron James for picking a side. It would have been for every single of his allies, who supported the opposing side. Meanwhile, MAL theorized that since the song’s title drop, there must be Drake’s friends like James, who might have reached out to him regarding the track. “I’m sure people have been reaching out to him and backsliding and backtracking certain actions and reaching out to him,” he said.
However, the track’s name release could be a way for Drake to convey to his supposed friends to stay on the side they picked during the battle and not come back to betray him. “I think this is probably his way of letting those people know, like, nah fam. You gotta stay over there. You picked a side. You gotta stay over there,” MAL continued.
