The second installment of the hit South Korean series showcased several such contests, with one specifically catching the audience’s attention. The said round not only provided several twists and turns to the narrative of Season 2 but also managed to give rise to the Mingle Dance trend.

‘Mingle Dance’ trend on TikTok explained
The Mingle Dance trend on TikTok actually draws inspiration from a particular scene in the third challenge depicted in Squid Game Season 2. Known as Mingle, the round requires contestants to constitute groups based on the number announced in 30 seconds and enter a room with their respective teammates to complete the tie.
As a chilling rendition of the Round and Round plays in the background, almost every participant expresses emotions of fear and panic. However, one of the contestants, named Thanos, reacts differently to the situation by recreating the moves of the Bang Bang Bang song. Played by K-pop star T.O.P, the character then proceeds to link his arms with another player and spins around in circles while laughing almost maniacally.
Sensing the scene’s potential, Squid Game’s official TikTok account posted a short clip of Thanos’ dance on the social media platform. The video unexpectedly garnered 158 million views in a week, giving rise to the Mingle Dance trend.
Since then, several TikTok influencers have released their own version of the Round and Round Challenge, linking arms with their friends and spinning in circles to the sound of the now-viral nursery rhyme. According to Dexerto, the Mingle Dance trend has generated over 82,000 videos so far, with a significant chunk of these posts garnering in excess of a million views.
