What Is ‘Eye of Rah’ Meme Going Viral on TikTok? Explained

A new viral meme called ‘Eye of Rah’ has been making waves on TikTok. This has naturally intrigued users of the video-sharing site and cybercitizens, who wish to learn what this meme is and how it originated.

Here is the ‘Eye of Rah’ meme explored.

‘Eye of Rah’ meme on TikTok explained

The ‘Eye of Rah’ meme is basically an edited photo of TikToker Rashad Bowens, aka @lilbotheme. In this edited photo, Bowens is depicted with a single eye resembling the Greek mythological creature, the Cyclops, and sporting a single red dreadlock.

This meme was first created by TikTok user Jeremiah Springfield (frightenedsheep25937582). He often posts reels that consist of photoshopped photos showing weird animations and people with just one leg. He first posted the edited video and image in November 2024. The video started off showing Bowens reacting to another user reacting to a cucumber being coated in salt. Just as Bowens was sharing his thoughts on the cucumber video, the video cut to the aforementioned edited image.

The original unedited video was however uploaded two years ago in December.

Bowens, who is known for his reaction videos that show him reacting to various random things and expressing frustration by cussing in a dry tone, caught wind of the ‘Eye of Rah’ meme quite recently. He uploaded a video titled Eye of Rahh Anti Piracy Screen, where he expressed his bafflement and frustration at the meme.

Other users have also taken the liberty to join in on the fun generated by the meme. For instance, user @physicsisthebest uploaded an edited video showing Rashad Bowens shooting a laser from his eyes before the video cut to the edited Eye of Rah photo surrounded by bizarre animations. The video then cuts to an AI-generated explanation of a physics concept.

The meme’s name is a reference to the Eye of Ra, an important symbol in Egyptian mythology. Ra is the Egyptian sun god and the ‘Eye of Ra’ symbol represents his daughter’s revenge on humanity.
