Squid Game Season 2: Why Fans Think the Front Man Is Il-Nam’s Son

Squid Game Season 2 has taken the globe by storm, and fans are now debating a theory that makes a mindblowing claim. The viral theory assumes that the Front Man from Season 2 is actually the son of another treacherous character, Il-Nam. The old man, who initially seemed to be a sweet and vulnerable character, turned out to be the mastermind behind the games. Fans are now wondering if he is connected to the Front Man we saw compete beside Gi-hun in Season 2.

Here’s everything we know about whether the Front Man is Il-Nam’s son in Squid Game Season 2.

Is the Front Man Il-Nam’s son in Squid Game Season 2?

There is no definite proof confirming the theory that the Front Man is Il-Nam’s son in Squid Game.

Fans believe Il-Nam, the old man from Season 1, is the Front Man’s father because of the viral “Milk Theory.” The theory stems from an X (formerly Twitter) post on January 5, 2025. The post features two screenshots- the top one from Season 1 featuring Il-Nam and Gi-Hun and the bottom from Season 2 with Gi-Hun and the Front Man. The Season 1 screenshot shows Il-Nam allegedly telling Gi-Hun “You are just like my son, he couldn’t drink milk too.” On the other hand, the Season 2 screenshot shows the Front Man giving his milk to Jun-hee, saying, “Here, I can’t drink it anyway.” The post thus deduces that the Front Man is actually Il-Nam’s son. However, the theory is misleading as there is a major fault in both the screenshots.

Fans who have rewatched the first season have confirmed that Il-Nam never said that his son cannot drink milk. What actually happened was when Gi-Hun asked for chocolate milk because he cannot digest regular milk, Il-Nam says to him, “As a kid I’m willing to bet you got spanked a lot… my son did too. He was just like you, friend.” Similarly, in Season 2, the scene where the Front Man gives Jun-hee his milk, the official subtitle reads, “I don’t drink plain milk,” instead of “Here, I can’t drink it anyway.”

This glaring mistake in the post completely debunks the theory that the Front Man is Il-Nam’s son in Squid Game. While the writers may have planned for this connection in the future, nothing in the series has hinted at this being true.
