Denis Villeneuve’s Dune and Dune: Part 2 will be leaving Netflix soon, and fans want to know when they can watch these films for the last time. Adapted from Frank Herbert’s iconic 1965 sci-fi novel, the Dune series chronicles the rise of Paul Atreides on the desert planet of Arrakis. Rich with political and religious themes, the franchise quickly became a global phenomenon, with fans eagerly awaiting its third installment.
Here’s everything we know about when Dune and Dune: Part 2 are leaving Netflix.
When is Dune leaving Netflix?
Dune is leaving Netflix on Friday, January 31, 2025.
According to Dune’s US Netflix page, this is the last opportunity for Netflix subscribers to experience the world of Arrakis before the film is removed. Of course, there is always the possibility that the movie could return to Netflix in the future closer to the release of the series’ third installment, Dune: Messiah.
When will Dune: Part 2 leave Netflix?
There is no official news yet about Dune: Part 2 leaving Netflix.
The second installment of Denis Villeneuve’s Dune series was recently added to Netflix on December 31, 2024, and it’s not expected to leave the platform anytime soon. However, based on trends for Warner Bros. movies, it’s possible Dune: Part 2 may have a four-month streaming window before its removal. Past films have followed similar schedules: for example, Meg 2: The Trench (2023) was added to Netflix on December 29, 2023, and left on June 29, 2024. Elvis stayed on Netflix from January 2 to May 1, 2024, a total of four months. Black Adam followed a similar schedule. Given these patterns, it’s reasonable to speculate that Dune: Part 2 may leave Netflix in April 2025, though this remains speculative.
