What Did Kieran Culkin Say About Getting Mark Ruffalo ‘High’?

Succession star Kieran Culkin recently opened up about getting actor Mark Ruffalo ‘high’ long ago as part of a prank, when they were filming a stage production together. This has sparked intrigue amongst fans who wish to learn the details about the same.

So, here’s what Culkin shared about pranking Ruffalo.

Kieran Culkin says he switched Mark Ruffalo’s prop joint with real one

Kieran Culkin revealed that he played a prank on Mark Ruffalo and got him high by switching a prop joint with an actual one. He pulled this prank when he was 17 years old and co-starred with The Avengers star on the stage production, The Moment When in 2000.

Culkin opened up about the prank in a recent interview with The Guardian. “I was 17 and stupid,” he said. The Scott Pilgrim vs. The World actor recalled seeing Ruffalo pass what he thought was the fake joint to another co-star. He then admitted his belief at the time that it was a “good prank.”

“I’m stupid. Oh my God, I’m so sorry,” Culkin added. He further shared that Ruffalo and their other co-star loved smoking the actual joint, with Ruffalo telling Culkin he had not done it for ten years. “And then Phyllis Newman comes in and goes, ‘I haven’t smoked pot since the 1960s. Thank you, darling,” said Culkin.

Kieran Culkin then mentioned that their stage manager was mildly furious about the prank and eventually took the joint away. Additionally, the A Real Pain actor spoke about how he once joked with Colin Hanks that he would pull the same stunt again when they performed This Is Our Youth in London. He shared how Hanks threatened to “punch [him] in the face.”

Culkin also talked about how he gave a real joint to Hanks while on stage, recounting the latter’s excited and nervous reaction, which caused the joint to fall apart when he tried to light it.

Mark Ruffalo had previously opened up about the hilarious experience in an appearance on The Graham Norton Show in 2020. However, he kept Culkin’s identity a secret, simply referring to him as a “very naughty young actor.”
