Why Did the Front Man Join the Games in Squid Game Season 2?

Viewers are eager to know why the Front Man joined the perilous game as Player 001 in Squid Game Season 2. As the enigmatic creator of the games, he’s responsible for overseeing the masked men and the players from afar. While he has the power to put anyone through hell via his wicked rules, especially Gi-hun, why did he decide to come on the field to compete? Here are the details.

Why the Front Man joined the games in Squid Game Season 2

The Front Man joined the games to challenge the ideas of Gi-hun, who believes that he can put an end to everyone’s misery and bring justice by ending the games.

The first season showcased that the role of the creator of Squid Games is only to keep a check on players and his employees, ensuring everything runs smoothly. However, this season, his role transitions to becoming a contestant, thanks to Gi-hun, who returns to seek revenge on him and show the world that there is still hope for humanity.

Nonetheless, the Front Man holds a contrary belief and he is firm in putting it across Gi-hun, challenging his ideas about mankind and the world, in general. In an interview with Tudum, Lee Byung-hun, who portrays Front Man, reveals his character’s true intentions in joining the game.

He said, “Front Man returns to the game wanting to enlighten Gi-hun — wanting to teach Gi-hun and make him think the way he does about the world and mankind.” Initially, he enters the game as Player 001, fooling everybody with his new identity of In-ho. In the process, he also forges a friendship with his enemy, Gi-hun.

However, in Episode 3, in a surprising turn of events, his real identity is officially disclosed. He votes for continuing the Squid Game whereas others want to discontinue it. His identity reveal takes the whole storyline in a completely different direction, shocking the fans.
