Vanessa Morgan and James Karnik are engaged
Vanessa Morgan, best known for her role on Riverdale, is engaged to James Karnik, a Canadian professional basketball player.
The couple, who welcomed their daughter Kaia just five months ago, shared their happy news on December 21. Karnik proposed during a romantic trip to the Langley Glow Light Festival in Canada. The actress shared, “James knows how much I love Christmas, especially all the festive lights, so he took me to the Langley Glow Light Festival.” Morgan initially expected the proposal on Christmas morning but felt completely surprised when it happened earlier.
Although Karnik had injured his foot, he insisted on walking around on crutches and assured Morgan he would do it for her. As they strolled through the glowing light displays, Karnik dropped his crutches, knelt down, and proposed. The stunning engagement ring added even more magic to the moment.
Brilliant Earth designed the “Custom Secret Butterfly Garden Ring,” which features a 4.64-carat oval-cut lab-grown diamond. The ring showcases a twisted rose gold band adorned with white and blue marquise-cut diamonds shaped like butterflies. Morgan said, “When I saw the ring, it was just stunning, and in that magical moment, with the lights all around us, it felt like the best Christmas present ever” (via PEOPLE).
Karnik shared his excitement about their future together. He said, “I’m excited for this next step in life and couldn’t be happier with the person I’m doing it with.” The couple plans to celebrate the holidays with their two children. This includes Morgan’s son River, 3, from her previous marriage to Michael Kopech.
Morgan announced their engagement on Instagram on December 24. She wrote, “Merry Christmas Eve from me and my fiancée.” She also shared her excitement about their first Christmas as a family of four. Morgan mentioned plans to recreate cherished holiday traditions, like letting the children “break through wrapping paper” to reveal the Christmas tree.
