What happened to Mel’s mom in Virgin River?
Mel’s mom is shown dead in Virgin River. But, the exact reason for her death remains unconfirmed.
Season 6 finally introduced Mel’s mom, Sarah, played by Jessica Rothe. The actress is known for her roles in Happy Death Day and Forever My Girl. While Mel was excited about her wedding, she wanted to know more about her mother to honor her at the ceremony. As a result, she approached her father Everett to open up about Sarah. However, he was skeptical but eventually decided to share details on his relationship with Sarah.
Further, the series moves to a flashback in the 1970s. Sarah first met Everett when she asked him to hitchhike and get a ride after her car broke down. Everett fell in love with her at first sight and got off his bus to help her. He gave her a lift as the two were travelling in the same direction but their peace was short-lived. Everett’s vehicle broke down as well, with the repair needing almost 48 hours. The two then decided to spend the night camping near a bonfire in Virgin River, which brought them closer.
Sarah and Everett ended up kissing each other but they parted ways believing they would unite if destiny wanted them to. Everett then reveals how the two found their way back to each other when Sarah came back looking for him. However, following this flashback, it is not shown what exactly happened to Sarah and how she passed away. As fans are aware, a Virgin River spin-off is reportedly in the works which will explore Sarah and Everett’s story. This upcoming series might clear Sarah’s fate and how she died. On the other hand, the show has been renewed for Season 7 as well, which could also reveal Sarah’s story further.
