What did Blake Lively say about SNL hosting?

Blake Lively recently shared that she had to cancel her much-anticipated hosting role for the Saturday Night Live (SNL) Season 50 opener due to ongoing issues related to her It Ends with Justin Baldoni.

According to a complaint Lively filed against Baldoni, the director’s alleged misconduct had far-reaching consequences on her career. The complaint specifically mentions the alleged loss of Lively’s SNL hosting gig (via Variety).

“The effects on Ms. Lively’s professional life were immediate and substantial,” the complaint reads. It further explains how the backlash made it difficult for her to attend public events “without being forced to openly discuss what happened on set.” As a result, Lively “backed out” of her role to host SNL in September 2024. Additionally, the actor also “canceled” a major “corporate event” for her hair care brand.

The legal filing, submitted to the California Civil Rights Department, also details a January 2024 meeting between Lively and Baldoni, following the conclusion of the Hollywood labor strikes. During the meeting, Lively claimed Baldoni made inappropriate remarks about her weight, discussed his personal sex life, and pressured her to disclose her religious beliefs.

Lively further alleges that the lead producer of the film, Jamey Heath, showed her a clip of his wife giving birth. The complaint also reportedly includes evidence in the form of texts and emails, wherein Baldoni and his team allegedly threatened to damage Lively’s reputation if their issues were made public.
