Here’s why What We Do in the Shadows is over after the Season 6 finale
What We Do in the Shadows has concluded after the Season 6 finale as FX Chairman John Landgraf believed it came to its natural conclusion.
Speaking at a TCA panel, he stressed that the series had “a great six-year run.” Additionally, at a New York Comic Con panel, executive producer Paul Simms addressed the series’ conclusion and stated, “I think it’s better to go out on top, and better too soon than too late.” (via Soap Central)
Simms had earlier also mentioned something similar, that they wished to leave a “little too early” rather than a “little too late.” He added that they wanted to make a funny season that was free from sentimental moments and did not have many plot threads. (via Cincinnati Enquirer)
“It’s kind of the perfect time, I think,” added series star Matt Berry. “It’s coming to the end and it’s as good as it ever was, and that’s all you ever want,” he further stated.
What We Do in the Shadows Season 6 premiered on October 21, 2024. It ran for 11 episodes till December 16, 2024. Due to its 11-episode count, the final season is slightly longer than the previous five seasons.
Jemaine Clement created the series, which is based on his and Taika Waititi’s New Zealand mockumentary movie of the same name. Kayvan Novak, Matt Berry, Natasia Demetriou, Harvey Guillen, Mark Proksch, Jason Hoyte, and several others make up the core cast.
