Here is everything you need to know about the host’s final segment on the news show.
When is Hoda Kotb’s final episode before leaving the Today Show?
Hoda Kotb’s final episode on Today Show will air on January 10, 2025.
Kotb announced her exit from the show on September 26, 2024. She shared with her colleagues — Savannah Guthrie, Sheinelle Jones, Craig Melvin, and Jenna Bush Hager — how she came to the realization that she had turned 60, reflecting on her career and how she spent “26 years at NBC, 16 years on The Ten, and 7 years with [Today].”
Kotb revealed the reason behind this significant decision was to look after her family and unfold a fresh chapter in her life. She expressed that she wishes to spend more time with her daughters Hope and Hailey. The 60-year-old stated, “I decided that this is the right time for me to kind of move on. And then I thought about, obviously I had my kiddos late in life.” (via NBC)
She also shared that she felt she was only spending limited time with her kids when they deserved “a bigger piece of [her] time.” Kotb further expressed that she is excited to take her daughters to school as they needed a ”little more of her” while she wanted more time with them.
While fans are emotional regarding Kotb’s exit, it appears that she will be back to work soon. A month following her exit announcement, the news anchor teased a new venture in an interview with People. She stated, “I have something that I am super excited about that’s in its infancy. It’s a whole wellness situation, and I got lit up by that just from stuff I’ve been working on and doing on myself.”
Following Hoda Kotb’s departure, Craig Melvin will join as the new co-anchor of the TODAY Show.
