Fans are wondering whether Luke Grimes’ Kayce Dutton is leaving Yellowstone following his comments in a recent interview. There, he addressed the fifth season’s conclusion and his time on the show.
So, is Grimes’ Kayce putting away his cowboy hat for good? Here is everything you need to know.
Is Luke Grimes’ Kayce Dutton leaving Yellowstone after Season 5?
It is unconfirmed if Luke Grimes’ Kayce Dutton is exiting Yellowstone after Season 5.
However, in a recent Esquire interview, Grimes admitted that he was ready to bid farewell to the series after a seven-year tenure. “It feels like good timing,” Grimes said. “I’ve loved all of it. But there is a part of it that—once you read those final episodes—sees that there’s a finality to it. There’s always talks of spin-offs. I’d do it [but] I just don’t understand how it would work once the story ends,” he added.
Moreover, in the Season 5 finale, it seemed as if Kayce Dutton’s story had a sense of closure and made fans think he would not return in the future. He had sold the Dutton family ranch but maintained ownership of the East Camp portion of Yellowstone with his wife and son.
A new spin-off for Yellowstone focusing on Kelly Reilly’s Beth Dutton and Cole Hauser’s Rip Wheeler is in the works, as per Deadline. However, it is unknown if Grimes will be involved in the series. The seeds for the spin-off were sown in the finale, as Beth and Rip were seen purchasing a new ranch.
Moreover, Season 6 is also in the works, according to The Hollywood Reporter. But, Grimes’ involvement here is also unconfirmed.
Yellowstone is developed by Taylor Sheridan and John Linson. Besides Grimes, Reilly, and Hauser, the cast also comprises Wes Bentley, Kelsey Asbille, Brecken Merrill, Jefferson White, Gil Birmingham, and Ian Bohen.
