Bob Avila was a legendary horseman shown in Yellowstone Season 5.

He breathed his last on November 9, 2024, aged 72. Yellowstone Season 5 decided to pay tribute to the horse rider as the series itself is set on a large ranch in Montana. The last episode of the fifth season begins with a heartfelt message stating, “This episode is dedicated to Bob Avila. See you down the dusty trail, Amigo.”

However, this is not the first time Avila has been included in the series. The legendary cowboy has also made a guest appearance in the show’s previous seasons. Avila appeared in Yellowstone Season 3 Episode 8. He shares the screen with John Dutton, played by Kevin Costner, as the two buy things for horses and Avila also offers his opinions of animals.

Avila has also been included in the American Quarter Horse Association Hall of Fame and NRCHA Hall Of Fame. He became the World’s Greatest Horseman in 2000 and 2007, NRCHA Million Dollar Rider, and AQHA Professional Horseman of the Year, revealed Professional Bull Riders Editor-in-Chief Kendra Santos while paying tribute to him on Instagram.

Bob Avila’s surviving family members are his wife, Dana, and their son, BJ.
