Dune: Prophecy Episode 5 Ending Explained: Who Are Desmond Hart’s Parents?

Dune: Prophecy has dropped its fifth episode. It was a thrilling ride with several shocking events, from the virus in Sister Kasha’s brain to Sister Francesca’s connection with Javicco Corrino. However, the most astonishing twist was the revelation of Desmond Hart’s family. So, who are Desmond Hart’s parents in Dune: Prophecy?

Here is the Dune: Prophecy Episode 5 recap and ending explained.

Who is Desmond Hart’s mother and father in Dune: Prophecy?

Sister Tula and Orry Atreides are revealed as Desmond Hart’s parents in Dune: Prophecy.

As seen in the previous episode, Sister Valya managed to retrieve Desmond’s blood sample during the Wallach IX. She finally hands over the sample to Tula at the end of episode 5. Tula decides to use the Thinking machine again to obtain Desmond’s parentage from the Sisterhood’s genealogy records.

Further, Tula learns that he has the blood of House Harkonnen and House Ateriedes. Soon, a shocking twist takes place when she recognizes the image of a baby and at last is clear that Desmond Hart is the son of Tula and Orry Atreides.

As fans are aware, Valya and Tula’s flashback showcased the tragic death of their brother Griffin at the hands of Vorian Atredies. This left the sisters vengeful with Tula plotting against her boyfriend Orry Atreides.

Despite Orry agreeing to let go of the family enmity, Tula kills him and his entire except little Albert to avenge her brother’s death. Tula also abandoned her child with her lover and decided to fulfill her duties towards the Sisterhood.

Why Desmond Hart didn’t die in Dune: Prophecy Episode 5

Desmond Hart has mysterious powers in the series. He is introduced as a warrior who survived a war and even a deadly sandworm attack in Arrakis. He went on to murder Pruwet Richese and Kasha through fire without even touching them.

The most shocking aspect was when Valya’s voice powers failed to work on him. While the origin of Desmond’s powers is yet to be explored, he is becoming a huge threat to Sisterhood with every episode.

Why does Desmond Hart hate the Sisterhood in Dune: Prophecy?

Desmond Hart hates the Sisterhood as his mother Tula chose Sisterhood over him. As mentioned above, Tula left her newborn to fulfill her loyalty towards the Sisterhood. This led to Desmond growing up in a dangerous environment filled with hatred towards the Sisterhood. As such, he wants to bring down the organization by hook or by crook. It will be interesting to see if Desmond Hart succeeds or if Valya uses his own genetic identity to defeat him.
