Why Marvel Rivals Isn’t on PS4, Xbox One & Nintendo Switch

Fans are wondering why NetEase Games’ Marvel Rivals is not on last-gen platforms PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. They are also curious to know if the new PVP hero shooter will ever come on those platforms as the game launched exclusively on current-gen consoles PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, as well as PC.

So, are PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Switch versions of Marvel Rivals going to come out anytime in the near future? Here is your answer.

Why can’t you play Marvel Rivals on PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch?

You can’t play Marvel Rivals on PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch because it is not available on those platforms.

This is because the aforementioned platforms are older hardware with lower configurations and power, and many limitations compared to the newer consoles. It is possible that the developers of the game wished to utilize the full capacity of the PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, which explains why they did not release it for the older platforms.

Will Marvel Rivals ever release on PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch?

Marvel Rivals is unlikely to release on PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. There may be hope for the first two, but a release on Nintendo Switch won’t be possible.

There is no official news or confirmation on whether Marvel Rivals will make its way to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. However, a Switch version is the unlikeliest, thanks to game director Thaddeus Sasser’s comments in a Pocket Tactics interview. He mentioned that there were “no discussions [happening]” when it came to making a handheld or mobile port of the game.

It remains to be seen whether Marvel Rivals will drop on Nintendo Switch’s successor, which is reportedly expected to launch by next year.

However, things could change if the developers decide to do so, which may lead to Marvel Rivals eventually making its way to PS4 and Xbox One. This wouldn’t be a strange scenario, considering how Respawn Entertainment’s Star Wars Jedi: Survivor made its way to PS4 and Xbox One, one year after its release on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Furthermore, a launch on PS4 and Xbox One would also add thousands of new players to the game, which would be beneficial for everyone.
