The recall includes 2023-2024 Honda Passport and 2023-2025 Honda Pilot models. According to Honda, an incomplete connection between the fuel filler neck tube and the filler pipe could lead to separation in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of a fuel leak, fire, or injury.
An “out of sequence process” during manufacturing disrupted the proper connection between the components, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Honda manufactured the affected vehicles between February 2023 and May 2024. The company has reported no injuries or fatalities related to this defect but acknowledged receiving one warranty claim.
Honda will notify affected owners by mail in early January 2025. It encourages owners to visit authorized dealerships for a free inspection. If the connection between the fuel filler neck and pipe is incomplete, dealerships will secure the parts at no cost.
