Thompson was walking toward the Hilton Hotel when a gunman, who had been waiting, shot him in the back and calf. He was quickly taken to a hospital, but despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead shortly after.
The suspect, who was wearing a mask, had a gray backpack with them at the time. He fled the scene on foot and rode off on an electric bike toward Central Park. Brian was an incredibly loving, generous, talented man who truly lived life to the fullest and touched so many lives. Most importantly, Brian was an incredibly loving father to our two sons and will be greatly missed.”
