Why Was Draymond Green Out of Warriors vs. Nuggets Game? Injury Update

Draymond Green was sidelined for the Golden State Warriors’ game against the Denver Nuggets due to an injury. The decision to hold him out was made ahead of the match as the team opts for caution. This marks a notable absence for Green, who had been a key player in the Warriors’ lineup this NBA season.

Here’s a closer look at why Draymond Green was out of the Warriors vs. Nuggets match.

Due to left calf soreness, Draymond Green will not be playing in the Golden State Warriors’ matchup against the Denver Nuggets on Tuesday night. Head coach Steve Kerr had labeled Green as doubtful earlier in the week. The team confirmed on Tuesday that he would not play. The injury, which first flared up during the Warriors’ loss to the Phoenix Suns last Saturday, has led to Green’s first missed game of the season. The team has taken a cautious approach, prioritizing Green’s long-term health.

Draymond Green spoke candidly about the injury on Tuesday’s episode of The Draymond Green Show. He explained how he’s been dealing with the calf tightness. Green said, “Over the last few games, I’ve been a bit beat up but still feeling healthy enough to get out there on the floor and try to help my team. I started to get this calf tightening in my left calf.” However, he acknowledged the importance of recognizing the symptoms this time around, especially given his history with injuries. He noted that the calf issue is similar to the tightness he experienced previously. He’s now making adjustments to avoid further aggravating it.

The Warriors have been cautious with Green and fellow star Stephen Curry, who also manages tendinitis in both knees. Coach Steve Kerr has emphasized the importance of reducing the workload on the team’s veteran players to keep them healthy throughout the season. Kerr said, “If they’re dealing with nagging injuries like Steph’s knees last week, like Draymond’s calf now — we got to manage it all for sure.” (via ESPN)
