USC QB Miller Moss To Enter Transfer Portal

The USC Trojans are facing yet another setback to their season after quarterback Miller Moss formally confirmed his decision to opt for the transfer portal. The Trojans, who compete in the Big Ten Conference of the NCAA, have already experienced a mediocre start to their new season. The Southern California side currently occupy the 11th position in B1G, having lost five of their last seven matches. So, why did Moss choose to switch allegiances in the middle of the ongoing season?

Here’s everything you need to know regarding the young QB’s decision to part ways with USC.

Miller Moss announces his entry to transfer portal

Miller Moss declared his eventual departure from the Trojans on Monday, entering the transfer portal in the process. Moss explained his step in a detailed statement, citing his desire to evolve as a quarterback as the reason behind exiting USC.

The 22-year-old footballer thanked his teammates and coaches before delving into why he is leaving the institution. “Being a USC Trojan was a lifelong dream of mine. Putting on the cardinal and gold and competing on behalf of my teammates and school is something I will forever take pride in. I poured everything I have into this — body, heart, mind, and soul — and am humbled by and proud of what my teammates and I accomplished and fought tooth and nail for,” Miller Moss remarked while confirming his transfer request.

The emerging quarterback initially joined the Trojans as a backup, serving as a deputy to the seasoned Caleb Williams. However, he finally acquired the starting position this term, leading his side to a win over LSU in the first game of 2024. Nonetheless, Moss ultimately lost his place to sophomore Jayden Maiava after a tough loss to Washington.

Following his decision to enter the portal as a graduate transfer, Miller Moss will have one eligible year to play. Since his debut, Moss has managed to start 10 games for USC. In his brief career so far, the USC QB accumulated throws spanning 3,469 yards aside from 27 touchdowns. As such, Moss should fetch much interest from opposing teams during his time in the portal.
