Here is everything you need to know about the veteran actor’s journey in the longest-running soap opera.

Wayne Northrop’s role in Days of Our Lives explained

Wayne Northrop essayed the character of Roman Brady in the series. Additionally, he played the roles of André DiMera and Alex North. Northrop joined Days of Our Lives in 1981. Roman is one of the most popular characters in the series.

Hailing from the Brady family, he has gone through a rollercoaster journey in the series indulging in romance, drama, and even mysteries. Despite the successful stints, Northrop quit the show, and his character was shown dead following a fight with Stefano DiMera.

While it seemed Roman’s character had come to an end, there was a twist in the tale. A new character named John Black was introduced in the show and he was suffering from amnesia. Soon, it was revealed that John, played by Drake Hogestyn, was none other than Roman Brady. He was alive and underwent plastic surgery by Stefano, who also brainwashed him.

Northrop eventually returned to the show in 1991 but Hogestyn continued his stints. The makers made some changes to the storyline and it was revealed that John was just misunderstanding himself as Roman due to the brainwashing.

Further, Roman became a police commissioner who went on to undertake various dangerous missions. Following his retirement, he started looking after his family business at the Brady Pub.

In 1994, Northrop decided to leave the show again and Josh Taylor stepped into his shoes. Further, in 2005, the actor made a comeback for a brief appearance as Alex North. Previously, he’d also played André DiMera in 1983.
