Hope Brady, most recently portrayed by Kristian Alfonso, was an important character in the overarching narrative of Days of Our Lives (DoOL). Following her recent return to the Peacock soap opera, fans have many questions about her, including who her mother could be.
Who is Hope Brady’s mother, Adelaide, on Days of Our Lives?
Hope Brady’s mother is Adelaide “Addie” Horton Williams, another prominent character in Days of Our Lives. Patricia Huston portrayed her from 1965 to 1966 and Patricia Barry from 1971 to 1974.
Addie, the daughter of Tom and Alice Horton, had four siblings, including a fraternal twin. At one point, she married Ben Olson and had two children with him. Following his death, she married Hope’s father, Douglas Williams.
However, not long after her daughter’s birth, Addie became terminally ill. One day, she had taken her daughter out on a stroller when a car veered toward them. Although Addie managed to push her daughter’s stroller toward safety, she herself was killed after the vehicle hit her. At the time, Hope was only nine days old.
Despite her relatively brief presence in the show, Addie went on to have a prominent influence on the story through her daughters, Hope and Julie Olson Williams. Further, in the Horton household, Christmas is still placed on the tree in her name decades after her passing.
Notably, Alfonso returns to DoOl for only one episode as a tribute to her fictional father. Bill Hayes, who originated Doug Williams and is the only actor to portray the role, passed away on January 12, 2024, at age 98. “My return is very bittersweet because it is the end of an era with Bill gone,” Alfonso told TV Insider. “So to return to Days is very sad. I am appreciative that they came to me to include me in their series of shows honoring Doug. And I’m very happy to see everyone, but I’m entering the studio with a heavy heart.”
