The conspiracy thriller limited series The Madness is now streaming on Netflix, and viewers are wondering how it ends and who framed Colman Domingo’s Muncie. While spending time by himself in the Poconos, Muncie finds the dismembered body of his neighbor, who he later learns was the far-right activist Mark Simon (Tahmoh Penikett), and is blamed for the murder. As Muncie sets out to prove his innocence, he must also ensure the safety of his estranged wife, Elena (Marsha Stephanie Blake), and children, Kallie (Gabrielle Graham) and Demetrius (Thaddeus J. Mixson).

Who framed Muncie in The Madness and why?
Rodney Kraintz (Neal Huff), CEO of Revitalize, framed Muncie simply because, as he tells the latter, “You were there.” In the fictional world of The Madness, Revitalize is a powerful organization that seeks to control environmental deregulation. For that purpose, they influence elections and hire extremist thought leaders such as Simon to shape political and social discussions.
However, when things turned sour with Simon, Revitalize sent their assassin, Julia Jayne (Alison Wright), to take him out. They realized that Muncie’s presence at the scene gave them a unique opportunity to shift the blame onto an opinionated TV personality and capitalize on it.
In the series finale, Julia is killed in a confrontation with Elena. Although gravely injured, the latter survives. Muncie is exonerated and gets to tell his story on national TV, exposing Kraintz. He later stops Demetrius from attempting to kill the data mogul and confronts the man himself.
Muncie ultimately doesn’t shoot Kraintz, having realized that he, too, is just another cog in the machine. Kraintz is cleared of the charges of killing Simon. And just when it seems he would get away unscathed, a member of Simon’s extremist organization, The Forge, kills him.
Do Muncie and Elena end up together?
Yes, Muncie and Elena end up together. Muncie quits TV and begins teaching. He mends his relationships with his children and reunites with Elena.
