Hollywood veteran Leonardo DiCaprio is embroiled in a public controversy following his antics at a Fiji hotel. The acclaimed actor, famous for being a stickler for privacy, has received severe criticism from internet users. But what did the Titanic star actually do to generate such an immense backlash?

Here’s everything you need to know regarding Leonardo DiCaprio’s much-discussed incident at a Fiji hotel.

What happened to Leonardo DiCaprio in Fiji?

The 50-year-old thespian has been criticized for reportedly disregarding a Fijian welcome ritual performed by the hotel’s employees.

Leonardo DiCaprio recently concluded his trip to the South Pacific, during which time he stayed in a hotel in Fiji. On his last day in the island country, the actor exited the lavish establishment draped in a black outfit, a cap, and sunglasses. Prior to his departure, the hotel’s hospitality team graced DiCaprio with a special performance.

However, as captured in a video, the actor blatantly ignored the staff’s Fijian welcome serenade and instead headed straight to his pick-up van stationed outside. In the snippet, Leonardo DiCaprio exits the Fiji hotel premises while talking on his phone, oblivious to the commotion around him.

This act has garnered several negative comments on the internet. Multiple users called the Oscar winner disrespectful for purposefully disregarding the warm gesture of his hotel workforce. Many have also jumped to DiCaprio’s defense, highlighting the actor’s known preference for privacy. Some have argued that the uncertain significance of the phone call could’ve inadvertently driven the artist’s behavior.

Leonardo DiCaprio’s incident at the aforementioned Fiji hotel comes shortly after his 50th birthday party. The occasion witnessed an influx of 500 selected guests, including Brad Pitt, Paris Hilton, Katy Perry, Steven Spielberg, and more. Notably, the party required its guests to put stickers on the cameras on their phones, presumably to prevent any unwarranted leaks.
