Kraven the Hunter Box Office Prediction: Will It Flop or Succeed?

With Kraven the Hunter hitting theaters on December 13, fans are eager to know its box office prediction and wondering if the film will flop or succeed. Sony has released two SSU films this year so far, beginning with the critically panned Madame Web, followed by Tom Hardy’s third and final Venom outing, The Last Dance.

So, will this film stand a chance at the box office? Here is our box office prediction for Kraven the Hunter.

How much is Kraven the Hunter predicted to make at the box office?

In the opening weekend, Kraven the Hunter is predicted to make around $20-25 million domestically.

These numbers were revealed by Boxoffice Pro. When compared to the other SSU films, Kraven the Hunter’s numbers are above Madame Web, but below every other film, including 2022’s Morbius which features Jared Leto.

For reference, here is how every SSU film released so far performed domestically at the box office, according to Box Office Mojo:

  • Venom (2018) – $80.2 million domestic opening, $213.5 million domestic total
  • Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021) – $90 million domestic opening, $213.5 million domestic total
  • Morbius (2022) – $39 million domestic opening, $73.8 million domestic total
  • Madame Web (2024) – $15.3 million domestic opening, $43.8 million domestic total
  • Venom: The Last Dance (2024) – $51 million domestic opening, $133.7 million domestic total

Will Kraven the Hunter flop or succeed?

Kraven the Hunter could flop at the box office.

Many factors seem to be working against the film. One is its R-rating. This rating generally caters to a smaller audience, which can negatively affect its box office prospects.

Additionally, the film will also face strong competition from Mufasa: The Lion King. This film is scheduled to drop one week after Kraven the Hunter.

Moreover, most of Sony’s Spider-Man Universe films have failed to impress both critics and fans. As such, there could be many who might have written Kraven the Hunter off and will not go and see the film, again negatively impacting its box office.

So, there’s a lot that could go against the movie. However, on the bright side, the film is rumored to be better than Venom: The Last Dance, according to reputed industry insider Daniel RPK. Hence, there’s a possibility that it would end up surprising fans who go and see the film, and eventually possibly lead to the film having a decent chance at the box office during the Holiday season.
