Why Is Justin Trudeau Facing Backlash For Dancing at Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour?

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is facing a lot of heat from many people for taking time off from office and attending Taylor Swift‘s Eras Tour, where he was spotted dancing to her songs. Accordingly, fans are wondering why Trudeau is getting such backlash. Did he ignore important matters affecting Canada in favor of Swift’s tour? Was he enjoying his time while more pressing issues needed to be addressed?

Here is all we know about the backlash Justin Trudeau is facing.

Justin Trudeau faces backlash as he attended Taylor Swift’s concert

Justin Trudeau faced a lot of backlash from fans online for attending and enjoying Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour concert while anti-NATO demonstrations and riots were plaguing Montreal. During these riots, cars were set on fire, and shop windows were smashed. At 6:10 p.m., protesters took to the streets and marched together while making police attempts to control the riots harder by throwing various objects like metal detectors and smoke bombs their way. Additionally, an effigy of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was also burned.

Many fans took to social media to slam Trudeau for being seemingly uncaring and ignorant about the situation. Pierre Poilievre, the leader of Canada’s Conservative Party, mocked Trudeau’s arrangement of his priorities on X (Twitter).

“Electing Justin Trudeau was the biggest mistake this country has ever made. We traded in the best country in the world for some legal weed and were given this in return,” another user wrote on X. “Trudeau’s version of Canada is truly hell on earth.”

However, some people were happy Trudeau enjoyed the concert with them. One TikTok expressed joy that Trudeau was jamming to Swift’s You Belong with Me, along with them, at the concert.

Trudeau eventually responded and addressed the riots on X, where he condemned them. He also mentioned that the RCMP and local police were communicating about the riots and stressed that rioters should be held accountable. However, this tweet was met with a flurry of criticisms from many users. Some of them condemned his attendance at Swift’s Eras Tour show, while Montreal suffered from the riots.
