Marvel fans have long been gunning for a crossover between Tom Hardy’s Venom and Tom Holland’s web-slinger, which could come to fruition in the upcoming Spider-Man 4. The proposition was first teased in Venom: Let There Be Carnage’s post-credit scene, where Hardy’s anti-hero shared the big screen with the wall-crawler for the first time, albeit not in person. While the MCU has yet to deliver on this promise, a recently published press release from Sony Pictures appears to hint at their rumored meet-up in Spider-Man’s next solo outing.
Here’s everything you need to know regarding the proposed encounter between Tom Hardy’s Venom and Tom Holland’s Spider-Man in Spider-Man 4.
Will Tom Hardy’s Venom fight Tom Holland’s Spider-Man in Part 4?
At the time of writing, it is unconfirmed whether Hardy’s Venom will have a fleshed-out fight sequence with his web-spewing counterpart in Spider-Man’s upcoming MCU installment.
Nevertheless, the latest press release from Sony Pictures’ Japan division seems to suggest that the brush-up between the two characters might just happen. While announcing the release dates for Spiderman in Japan (Summer 2026) and the U.S. (July 24, 2026), Sony also added an interesting message about Tom Hardy and his symbiotic entity in Japanese. The translated version of the statement reads as follows:
“Tom Holland, who plays Peter, has already given his stamp of approval to the story! ‘This will be a real movie that fans can respect!’ Is Tom Hardy, who plays Eddie in the ‘Venom’ series, ready to take part?” Additionally, the release also included The Dark Knight Rises star’s past remarks about wanting to work with Holland on Marvel projects.
“In fact, I should not say goodbye to Venom but welcome to the final stage. Venom’s story is not over yet. He still has a lot to do. Tom Holland is the best Spider-Man. I would like to work with him. If someone needs me, I’d be happy to participate,” the media release read.
As such, many have interpreted Sony’s comments as an indication of an upcoming clash between Tom Hardy’s Venom and Holland’s Spider-Man in Spider-Man 4. However, with Hardy’s run supposedly ending with Venom: The Last Dance, it would be intriguing to see how the MCU would introduce the character in their setup.
