He posted a video on his Instagram on November 19, letting his fans know how he ended up with the injury. Thompson went on to express his disappointment over how his birthday was ruined because of this unfortunate incident.
“It’s Tuesday today. Tomorrow’s my birthday. I’m turning 48, and I got the perfect birthday present on Saturday afternoon. The perfect reminder that I’m getting a little long in the tooth,” Thompson said. He then went on to explain what exactly went down on the soccer field and how the injury came about. “Fifteen minutes into my warmup, taking some shots on the goalie, and… POP. Felt it, heard it. Really, really uncomfortable,” he recounted.
Following this, Thompson turned to the full-length mirror behind him to show his bruised thigh to his fans. Pointing at the bruise Thompson exclaimed, “Look at this, I mean, purple all the way. Gnarliness!”
